Provincial climate commitments
Status of Climate Change Response Plans
The National Climate Change Law requires all provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) to develop their Climate Change Response Plans. These instruments make it possible to adapt national climate policy to the specific circumstances of each territory, identify local vulnerabilities, and define concrete mitigation and adaptation measures.
To date, only three jurisdictions have validated plans currently in force: Jujuy, La Pampa and Misiones. Santa Fe approved its plan at the provincial level in May 2026 and is awaiting national validation. Thirteen other jurisdictions are at different stages of preparation and technical exchange with the National Undersecretariat of Environment. The remaining seven have not yet submitted their plans.
